Liver adenomas are tumours in the liver that develop from liver cells (hepatocytes). They are most commonly found in women of child bearing age, due to hormonal influence. Adenomas arising in fatty liver disease are increasingly common. Although mostly benign, adenomas are considered a pre-malignant condition, with a variable risk of cancer change. Therefore your surgeon may recommend surveillance or treatment.
